Message from the President

Widjaja Lukito, PhDIn the year 2018, the Foundation will faced a big challenge in fund reduction from Danone Business Units. In order to continue the vision and mission of the Foundation, as stipulated in the Article 9 of the Foundation's By Laws - about collaboration with other organization, the Foundation is allowed to receive financial gift or donation from other organization outside the Danone Group.

Therefore, independent funding agencies and institutions which have the intention to collaborate with the Foundation are welcome. This action should ignite several outcomes: leverage credibility, replicate the acceptable concept of the Foundation, and increase beneficiary's coverage.

Further thought in facing tight budget, whether it is timely to scale up the Foundation to become regional Danone Institute (to be defined). This initiative should involve discussions among regional CBUs.

Following our achievement in the 1st Real-time Manuscript Writing Workshop which has published 12 original articles in the Special Issue of the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the Foundation held the 2nd Real-time Manuscript Writing Workshop. These workshops have been recognized as tangible scientific activities by the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education and other International Funding Agencies (i.e. Newton Fund and British Council).

We hope our programs can be sustained in order to escalate scientific performance of Indonesian scientists in nutrition.

Jakarta, January 2018
Dr. Widjaja Lukito
President, Indonesian Danone Institute Foundation
